My name is Maree Doherty, I am 35 years old and my amazing husband, Donovan Doherty is 39 years old. We met when I was 13 years old and he was 17. We married 25/08/2012 and have been happily married for 7 years.
I am an aunt to 4 beautiful nieces and nephews and Godmother to more beautiful children that are part of our lives.
We’ve known from the start of our relationship that we wanted to be parents one day. To see a mini version of my hubby or a mini me. To smell their milk breath, or their baby smell. To see those little eyes look at us as their whole world. To hear them say I love you, just their cuddles. I want to hear the sound of tiny feet running around the house. I WANT the dirty nappies and messy house.
We have tried to conceive within our married years to create a family of our own, we’ve been unsuccessful. We have now approached a fertility clinic and have been informed of unfortunate news. We will not give up without a fight!
My husband has been diagnosed with Asthenozoospermia, I have been diagnosed with a congenital abnormality that affects 3-7% of the general population – Uterine Septum including poor egg quality. We have had the following procedures done to aid in our dream of becoming parents: HSG, Hysteroscopy / Metroplasty & Dilation and curettage (D&C) and Varicocelectomy. We have unfortunately received feedback informing us that IVF will be our only option. Medical Aids in our country (South Africa) don’t cover fertility treatment.
The funds required for IVF are astronomical, but possible. Hope is being able to see that there is light despite all of the darkness.
Thank you for taking the time to read our campaign. God Bless you.
